A new Story

Husband,Dad and Grandad These are some words from Val, her daughters, son in laws and Grandchildren of what Brian meant to them. Words like 'One in a million', 'A true Gentleman' & ' kind hearted ' can get over used but for us these are the words that truly sum up our Dad & Husband. He really was the best Dad that anyone could ever wish for. Supportive, proud, kind, selfless and very very silly, have to be the best traits a man could have and we all feel honoured to have had him in our lives. We could go on for days about the many family holidays, squashed in the car,as we always had an extra family member or friend in tow. We may not have had a lot of money but that was certainly made up for in love and fun. We never went without holidays as family time has always been important, Morbattle, Rhyll , Burgh-le-Marsh are to name a few of the special places for us all. Dads Sunday rides became a tradition for not only us, his wife and daughters but also his grandchildren too. His love of the countryside was infectious and thankfully one passed on to his son in laws, to ensure that this legacy of drives to the Yorkshire dales, spotting red kites, rabbits , even the odd giraffe! lives on through us all. We might have all had a moan about his infamous 'scenic routes' but we all loved the joy of seeing so much of the country. How he sped up over bumps to make our belly flip, how he drove off and left us if we had to get out and open a farmers gate... or how he pretended the brakes had failed on every steep hill to scare Mum. For those of us who managed to escape his love of the countryside he passed on his love of chocolate (Nicola)! He loved us all equally and unconditionally. We are all very different people but he never had a favourite and loved each and everyone of us for what we were. He was the kindest gentleman with the stupidest sense of humour. The best grandad you could ever wish for for your children and we know he would have loved & spoilt grandchild number 12. Always interested in what they were doing, whether it was football, dancing, rugby, work or study but the thing he was best at was the fun! More silly than the children and always the one causing the commotion. If time was measured in kindness, Brian would live forever
